Painting Aluminum Siding

Aluminum siding is marketed as a green (recyclable), long-lasting, maintenance-free alternative to other common choices such as vinyl, fiber cement and cedar siding.

Aluminum Siding MaintenanceAluminum is rot-proof, waterproof, corrosion-resistant, fire-proof, termite-proof and able to withstand years of exposure to the elements, the siding itself will last virtually indefinitely if simply left alone. Unfortunately, the layer of paint on the siding will fade, “chalk”, scratch or peel and flake off. After years of exposure it just won’t look like it did when it was new.

No amount of cleaning, scrubbing or power washing will bring back that the paint finish to a like new appearance.

The Good News, You Don’t Have to Replace Your Siding
A new paint application can give a rich, beautiful new finish you can be proud of again.

Refinishing aluminum requires proper knowledge of preparing the surfaces, primers and paint qualities and properties to ensure a beautiful long lasting finish. When it’s time to hire a contractor to re-paint your homes siding make sure they are qualified with the proper experience, knowledge, equipment and are insured.

Aluminum Siding Painting before And Afters

Aluminum Siding Maintenance

The aluminum was put up years back but hasn’t been painted since. The wood to the rear of the home was almost dry rotted and in terrible shape, as you can see.

The project started with two power washes as the flaking continued, which left us with almost bare metal in many areas. After a full prime, we continued with a satin finish latex paint on the aluminum, solid stain on the wood, and gloss finish paint on the shutters. This gave us a complete transformation. I have to say it’s one of the biggest differences before and after that I’ve worked on. We exceeded our clients expectations. They, and the neighbors, couldn’t be happier with the new siding paint of their Connecticut home.
